Originally from Rhode Island, where he studied painting at the Rhode Island School of Design, Klein now splits his time between New York City and Los Angeles. He attributes his inspiration to Picasso and Bacon, whose work he first encountered at RISD; their influence is revealed in his fragmented film style. The obsessional charge seen in his work dates back to his first experiments in photography, at the age of 10, when he began capturing images of a schoolmate with whom he became absolutely fixated. His first professional job, post-graduation, was a Dior advertising campaign in 1985. He has since done campaigns for designers including Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, and Dolce & Gabbana.

Published on 19 Jun 2013 - Time Capsule is an exploration of the illusion of time. A woman projects herself into an imagined future and creates the dynamic range of aging. Time Capsule challenges our ideas and concepts of linear time, and of dimension; she is aging in a realm that is timeless.

This film is obviously a very old fashioned and quite depressing film to relate with the film that I want to create because Queen Elizabeth 1 is going to be a film about her identity with the make-up and the hair plus the erotic colours that she used in her fashion plus the jewellery that were diamonds and pearls.  There will be a lot of capturing the essence of her style in the film.  This film by Steven Klein inspired me to make my film more of a slow motion film with a hint of weirdness to understand the emotions and feelings to what that character is.  The background is very simple even though it is set in the room it is zoomed in close but even though when it is zoomed fully out it is still contained and at the end the posing creates more of a photo shoot than a film which I think it tries to show that kind of capturing the moment of the mood of character.  I think that the main inspiration from this film is that I should introduce more feelings, more striking poses and more of the camera focusing on certain elements of her fashion style.
